Each of these platforms has their own set of categories, but some of the most popular include design, marketing, writing, and more.
Signing up is as easy as heading over to one of these sites, filling in some information, and setting up a profile. You do not have to be certified in any way to start working.
Don’t think you know anything? Think harder. You can sell just about anything on the internet, even tutoring people in English is an option!
2. Teach Something
Speaking of teaching, courses are a fantastic way to make some money on the side. And, the great thing about setting up a course is that it’s a form of “passive income”, this means that you only have to create the course once, but the sales will keep coming in month after month. SkillShare and Udemy are the top two course websites you can start teaching on.
Joining is free for both. Udemy allows you to set a price for your course, with lessons typically being 5-15 minutes in length and a course consisting of multiple sections (with multiple videos in each).
You can also add written materials and other supplemental content to make a killer course. For instance, you could teach a course in knitting and include illustrations and templates in the resources section.
SkillShare, on the other hand, is aimed at shorter courses. Usually, you’ll have 3-5 videos in a course, with each video under 5 minutes. So, while your Udemy course might be “How to become a great knitter” your SkillShare class might be “How to master the basic knit-purl”.
3. Start a Blog
Do you enjoy posting on social media about all the things happening in your world? A blog might be both an enjoyable hobby and a profitable business idea for you to consider.
However, keep in mind that just about everyone is trying to break-through in this niche. So, you’ll want to kick things off right with an excellent website design, friendly style, and some likes/shares from your friends and other people in your social circle.
4. Open a Store
Most people today shop on the internet. How many times do you say, “Let me check Amazon” in place of the old go-to “Let me run to the store”? Probably pretty often!

Did you know that finding a manufacturer to make a product that you yourself have invented is relatively simple?
With crowdfunding platforms like Kickstart even able to help you with finding the money you need to kick off the manufacturing process, you could stamp your name on to the package of your very own invention. It just takes some creativity (and market research).
6. Write a Book
In case the previous idea didn’t spark any inspiration for you, have you ever considered writing a book? If so, the internet is here to help with this idea too. Writing a book might not be any easier, but publishing it certainly is.
Amazon allows any budding author to join their Kindle Direct Publishing platform for free and list their book for sell. This will make your writing available in eBook form for all the world to see.

Amazon is another selling platform to consider. While you may have to jump through some hoops in order to get into the Amazon seller program, it will prove well worth it.
If you can source the right products, listing them on Amazon will pretty much guarantee that you get sales.
